Roman City Project

Welcome to Verandas Urbis. This city is peaceful and a wonderful place to live. You can enjoy the beautiful gardens and fountains. When you are asleep or taking a nap you are definitely not awakened by any noises, except if you live next to the arena. The market places have nice people and have all different types of wonderful foods. People like to play outside a lot because the weather is beautiful. The city is known for it’s wonderful community. The arenas are very entertaining because the gladiators fighting is very intense. Also the theaters are nice because the plays are enjoyable. Our community is not the most “diverse.” Everyone here looks pretty much the same. They all have light skin and wear fancy things that look the same. We also have a good amount of jobs open for people like farmers, carpenters, butcher, farrier (someone who looks after horses) metalworking, legionaries, cooks, and potters. These are fine jobs that you would enjoy.
My favorite part is the baths. They have three sections, frijidarium, tempidarium, and caldarium. A hot room, cold room, and a normal room. The slaves there are good workers. You can get your hair cut, they could massage you, or they could clean you with oil, and they use a tool to scrape off the dirt. These three things are very relaxing. At the baths you can talk with your friends. It is also a good place to talk about politics.
The fields (agers) are good for kids because they could play, while being supervised by a slave while you are working or relaxing. There are public fountains and public bathrooms for the people who don’t have one in there house. There are three kinds of houses villa, insulam (like apartments,) and dormus. I prefer villa’s because they are the nicest. But they are all nice and comfy to live in.
The aqueducts carry clean water into your homes. When it rains a hole in the floor traps water from outside (because there is an open roof above it) and then it goes through pipes into a place where it could be stored for usage. This is called an impluvium. I like this a lot because it is an easy way to get water.
The curia is a place to meet where people talk about politics. This is an interesting way to learn about peoples concerns and agreements on the city. If you go down to the forum there are important and religious buildings there. If you go to the pomerium (a church) you can there to pray.
The taberna is a shop were you can get things you need for you, your family, or your home. The rostrum is a stand in the middle of the city were you can speak to the people of the city. Then there’s the thermopolium, where when you are walking around, you can get a nice snack.
The city of Verandas Urbis is wonderful and I highly recommend it.
